What is the Central Committee?
The Central Committee is an elected body of Democrats with one person chosen per precinct. It is the grassroots backbone of the party.
The Central Committee elects the County Democratic Party Chair, elects the City/Ward leaders, and the Executive Committee members. The Central Committee makes changes in the party’s bylaws as needed. The Democratic Party Executive Committee makes the party’s endorsements.
Central Committees all across the country are the foundation upon which the state and national party is built.

Frequently asked questions
Who can run for the Central Committee through RepYourBlockCuyahoga?
Any registered Democrat in Cuyahoga County!
What is RepYourBlockCuyahoga?
RepYourBlockCuyahoga is a community-led campaign dedicated to helping Cuyahoga County Democrats participate in local politics by running for the Central Committee and becoming a voting member of the Democratic Party.
How much of a time commitment is the Central Committee?
The more you put in, the more Democrats get elected. At the beginning, gathering signatures will take about half a day. There are usually two Central Committee meetings per year. You should also engage by attending your Ward or City Democratic meetings, usually about 10 times a year, and helping with voter turnout during election times. Of course, any community engagement you do will be part of your ongoing work.
What is my precinct?
You can look up your precinct at this Board of Elections site.
Will redistricting change my district?
Precincts in Cleveland were redrawn recently, so the information provided at the link above is accurate as of now.
Is someone already representing my precinct on the Central Committee?
Maybe! If you contact us on the interest form, indicate that you want that information, and we will let you know. If your precinct already has a member on the Central Committee, you should consider running anyway! Central Committee members serve a four-year term, and nobody is automatically put back on. Every seat is open, and if you want to put in the work, you should go for it!
What's the best way to support the RepYourBlockCuyahoga’s mission?
Thank you for asking! You can recruit more people through social media and email, and you can nominate someone to run for Central Committee.
When would my term start?
You would be installed before the first Central Committee meeting probably not long after the Primary Election, May 6th.
